DHA & ARA long chain fatty acids are important for a baby's development. These fats are known to concentrate in the gray matter of the baby's brain and eye retina starting in the third trimester of pregnancy. Following birth, a baby continues to receive an abundance of these fatty acids through breast milk. The current medical literature is conflicting when it comes to the necessity of adding DHA & ARA fatty acids in a formula fed baby's diet. Unfortunately, there is no clear and concise answer.
